Computer-Generations
There are five generations of the computer each generation comes with its own time and advantages and each generation gives improvement to the current generation. The generation of computer can be classified by the following:
- First Generation(1940s):- This generation uses thermionic vacuum tubes for processing. Ex- IBM 650 was the first-generation computer.
- Second Generation(Early 1960s):- This generation computer was transistor-based. Harwell Cadet & IBM 604 are examples.
- Third Generation(Mid 1960s):- IC-based(Integrated Circuit based) computers were designed in the third generation. IBM 360 series.
- Fourth Generation(Early 1970s):- This generation computer was Micro Processor based, Star1000 is one of the examples.
- Fifth Generation(Early 1980s):-This is what we see in the current scenario. Microprocessors and AI are developing at a very high pace. Desktop, laptops are the example we can see.
